The morning started very early at 4:20am and we headed up Pike Peak 1 and 2.  These peaks provided the first glimpse of Everest and Makalu that can be seen from the low areas of the trek.  We arrived shortly after sunrise and the cloud cleared just in time for a good Everest photo op.

The trip down started out fairly pleasantly.  We stopped for lunch and then attempted to find a shortcut around Lamjura La to meet up with the slower trekking group.  It wasn’t entirely successful.  There were some great Chortens that may have distracted us from finding the correct track.  We happened to have three of the best guides with us and despite many arguments and recccys, the track was nowhere to be seen.  In any case, we rather overshot the mark and had to weave back and forward, working our way down into the valley towards Junbesi.  Near Junbesi was a very large, impressive and active monastery that was took a look around.
